    Many of you have been asking since the channel began for me to make a video that helps you fall asleep and stay asleep. Insomnia is a huge problem and I totally understand that. There are also a ton of how to fall asleep faster or how to stay asleep videos out there but I feel too many of them are not evidence-based nor even really expert based.

    These sleep routine tips and bedroom hacks, including swapping out synthetic for cotton sheets, will help you get the ZZZZZs you need to take on the day; and the best part is that the power to improve your sleep and beat your insomnia is right in your hands!

    Just so you know I can talk about sleep for hours so if there is a specific question of yours on sleep that has been left unanswered please jump into the comments section and I will do my best to respond right there or in my monthly responding to comments video!

        I know this is a year old but what about melatonin? Can you ruin your sleep cycle if you take it occasionally to help you fall sleep?

          Dearest Doctor Mike, I cant sleep with the lights off as I'm incredibly afraid of the dark and I wake up feeling scared almost traumatised in the middle of the night only if it's dark? I dont know what to do cuz I sleep alone and use lamp light. I 💒 love u. And, what do I do if my parents refuse to take me to the doctor as I suffer from many not so serious health issues and my friends can't take me? 🇸🇦🇧🇩

            You are so right about the phone thing, cuz i have my night mode on and i’m a kid, and what drama do i have to worry about that will keep me up? But... My friends mom goes through her phone and is VERY!!! strict and I sent her a gif that was Caillou washing a car and it said something like “ooh daddy” on it😂 and now i feel bad cuz her mom probably doesn’t like me and she doesn’t know me yet and (from what I have heard) she is quick to judge people. And now i can’t go to sleep cuz I am scared of her mom... 😂

                          I will sleep with my cat as long as he lives and nothing you can say will change that. I'm a heavy sleeper and he tends to sleep when I do, usually near my feet or on my legs. I find it difficult to sleep without a cat.

                                I know he said no pills but at most stores like Walmart and target they sell melatonin pills I would start with 5mg that help amazing ..... some issues were when you first start taking it you may wake up in the middle of the night and have weird dreams because you are getting more REM sleep but this only last for a few days. I’m no professional this is just my experience.

                                              Hi! Im Jordan and I have been watching your channel a lot recently and I like your content! Thank you for educating us on important health info. I have a question. I recently in the past year got diagnosed with PTSD (not going into details but I am writing a letter for you because I do have some questions about other stuff), but what would you suggest I do if I am unable to sleep without lights? With the ptsd I have nightmares that have made me unable to even be able to try and sleep in the dark. I was doing okay sleeping in a dark room for a couple of months but the nightmares will keep me up a lot. And now its starting to turn into almost night terrors. I also have insomnia onto of the ptsd and have had it for years now but its still a struggle of mine. I also can't sleep in total silence either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

                                                                    Keeping pets off the bed.....have you ever tried closing a door on cat to keep out of your room while your in there before ????????. I have two cats and closing the door will disturb my sleep more than letting them sleep on the bed. Trust me cats hate closed doors and will do anything to get that door open.

                                                                      Its hard to go to bed at the same time when you work shifts. I work 1500 hours to 2330 hours get home at midnight. I take my medication one of them is a sedative. It takes me 1 to 2 hours to fall a sleep. The sedative i take has an effect of up to 8 to 10 hours. And then work wants me back at work for a 0730 hours or 0830 hours shift. I tell them i can't do it and they get pissed at me. Well I'm disabled i have to take my medication. If i take my medication at midnight i can't drive until 10 am minimum. Try explaining this to your boss. Also duo to my disability if i don't get enough sleep I'm not able to function at 100% and the effects of lack of sleep are much more pronounced for me. A normal person maybe able to handle lack of sleep and still function, i can't.

                                                                      The labor standards act of BC, Canada states a employer must give a employee 8 hours between shifts. It doesn't account for people who are disabled. As a disabled person your forced to fight with your employer about your disability and what your limitations are. And your basically at there mercy of understanding. If they let you go or fire you for some reason and you believe it was because of your limitations based on your disability. Your forced to try and prove it was discrimination. As a disabled person you are forced to prove your employer fired you based on discrimination on the base's of your disability.

                                                                      The whole system discriminates against disabled people who just want gainful employment within there limitations.

                                                                                        Interestingly enough, on jet lag, i've heard, but haven't had a chance to try this yet, but this should help with jet lag. When you get to your destination, go outside, take off your shoes and socks and step on to the grass. "Grounding" yourself helps your body adjust to the time change. Again, haven't tried it yet, but i'd like to. :)
