OLED on TV's is basically the best thing ever. The colours, the deep black, the insane contrast.... oh yeeeaaahhh. But is it still that good on a laptop?

@Robert Kelly why?? because it makes all the curling kids who have been swiped all their life extrnemely salty about their screens? get real, OLED on laptops is where we are heading and aspect like uneven aging of the subpixels (permanent retention)..is mostly a sucking cloth for people with IPS or VA panels ... and even less on laptops where the brightness are often below 400nits..OLED or IPS.. I would choose OLED every day of the week, as the contrast and black control on a pixelevel elevate the experience massively when dealing with HDR and getting a crisp and vibrant picture.
OLED screen on a laptop very stupid.
What if Glasswire doing something wired...
Do you even care Linus...you can not be that stupid that you take a dumb WOLED panel fundamental max specsheet and then concldue them as 1 to 1 with the final product on an freaking OLED gaming laptop.! c'mon...
on an gaming laptop with battery-management and with an risky OLED panel here' you can hopefully tell yourself that it will not be maxed outin he risk of permanent retention (burn-in) and battery comsumption.
so why are you rolling around thrueout the video with this 600 nits that you grapped from Samsung the maker WOLED spechsheet, when this will never be the case in this product.?
It not 600nits more like 450nits, but what ever, common facts from reality doesnt seem to match your backbone. 1:21
The 240hz IPS option is extremely dimm. in this high priceballpark with a max at 285nits and avarage 268nits plus being matte and no touch.. so certainly not all that.
a shame that they cant implement some potent bright display in todays scene where HDR are being more and more the norn in both streaming and gaming. though an OLED panel like in the video with fx 450nits will be way more potent in how bright it seems then an IPS with fx 450nits because of that insane contrast, and is the same we see in TV where OLED TV seems more potent in HDR brightness then fx VA-panels that on paper has close to double the brightness. (contrast goes a long way)
But hence the 240hz FHD version with 260 to 290nits on such an expensive laptop, is to dimm. imo. even a cheap old fellow like this is reaching +500nits and with HDR streaming.https://i.imgur.com/7tkE5nG.jpg

That table is so Great! I want one of that!
As an engineer, having a thin powerful linux machine to run simulations and modeling software, yes please!!!!
The only gaming laptop that does not look ugly
What if I watch a lot of netflix on my laptop, seems worth it!
I think it's so funny how all of the sudden everyone is a professional ultra turbo mega super gamer that needs a 960Hz display.
OLED is a HUGE step up in image quality, while only 1% of gamers will even notice the difference between 60 and 960Hz.
Actually color inaccuracy after changing monitor brightness is kinda irrelevant for color critical work. If you really work on such thing you have your own calibrator as you simply can't relay on factory calibration and have to periodically do it on your own. Moving forward on calibration, if you're calibrating your screen for given gamut you're also calibrating a gamma (both gamut and gamma will be different for movie theaters, TV screens, computer monitors and so on). If you're working on some critical project you're definitely not sitting in a Starbucks but rather in your suite which has properly set lighting and you're definitely not changing brightness of your monitor to be sure you're sticking to proper gamma otherwise you're loosing color accuracy and it doesn't matter whether you're working on OLED or IPS panel.
Been crying about this for over 10 yrs 😓. Plz I just want 1440p and 120/144/165/200... anything
Stupid resolution for such a small screen...
Is this laptop good for video and photos editing?
4:48 "A few mini-USB Taipei's"
If you don't want it, just give it to me. Just kidding.
Would be nice if their was a 1080p OLED screen option for the lower spec'd models.
Needing to choose GTX 2080 just to get the 4K OLED screen is a bit overkill.
If corsair made laptops they would do it better coming from a razer fan
I'm a CS major and I was thinking about getting this just to do some programming. No gaming. Either this or a MacBook Air. Which is better?
I hate the way you always negatively talk about stuff but every video I've watched from you I know your not lying
get it on Amazon https://amzn.to/2WXDNpo
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Review the mercury white please
It seems no OEMs are doing 1440P on gaming laptop.
Burn in
Hey good video but can u recommend any brand/model for alternative?
I would definitely recommend the HP Omen. Unfortunately it's very difficult to just look it up though because there are different versions. Look up HP Omen rtx 2060 144hz 512gb ssd. This will give you the best options.
i simply want 4k for my box one x
It doesn't make sense, it's not worth it BUT. I am the same as Linus. I want to watch Netflix on it
wallpapers please.....
I can just imagine what it would be like to buy $3,000 laptop only to wake up one morning and noticed a screen and burn in image. I'd be so pissed
I have been wondering about what laptop I should get and I was thinking maybe you and your viewers could help me. What I do on man 2012 MacBook Pro are light gaming, Netflix, Youtube, writing and playing The sims 4 with all extra packs + some mods. I have been looking at 2 laptops, the MacBook Pro 2019 13 inch with 16GB RAM and 128gb storage, and the base model Razer Blade 15. Im not a huge fan of windows, been using macOS since 2012 and that's why I'm leaning towards the Mac, but love and want the razers specs and I just don't know what to do..
PLEASE READ AND SHARE SO THAT OTHERS CAN SEE THIS, I WILL POST IT ON ALL RAZER REVIEWS
Do not buy from Razer, you are better off getting alienware Area 51m. Same portability, better power, better quality than razer. I have bought two laptops from this company now, and they were absolute garbage. The first one had to be replaced due to it suddenly going dead at 2 days old. The pc shut down when I was playing a game, and then it would not turn back on. Luckily they actually replaced it, but now this is my second laptop I buy from the store, because I didn't learn my lesson the first time, 2019, about a month old and on day two I get a blue screen of death crash the system needs to restart and the screen keeps glitching. I contacted support (luckily I bought a 340$ warranty for this mind you on my 2,000 laptop) and they first wanted to make sure "the drivers are updated). after following all their instructions I updated everything, and then the laptop now overheats to the point that I worry the stuff inside is getting damaged. Both of these products were TRASH. And they take FOREVER to respond. I am really upset because I liked the logo of the company, but it is just not worth being a faithful customer, since their products are just trash, at least where gaming pcs are concerned...
So does an OLED laptop also mean it has no backlight bleed?
Im happy with the base model (1600$)
But which is better Razer blade 15 or Asus rog s g531
Asus rog Zephyrus s g531
Bought the new razer blade 2019 with Gtx 2080 and want to update ram with the kingston hyper ddr4 32gb 3200mhz ram. Works but when I play games ends up freezing. I believe laptop has potential but with default settings this laptop is a waste of money. Do not want to return it, want to speed it up. Already have the evo ssd harddrive in it. Can anyone help me with overclocking step by step. Nothing on youtube that shows anything about this laptop. Someone told me about bios settings, but advance setting in bios is very basic enable and disable tabs
As a graphic designer, thanks for your review!
Razer - You pay £2000 for the privilege of becoming their QA team! 3 Blades in 3 months for me and now I find out the 4th one they sent is also faulty. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP!!
Its so fustrating i want this but it has no friggin g sync :(
BURN-IN is the key reason why I'm hesitating to buy laptops with OLED displays. Although one looks so satisfying in the first few months, I highly doubt the quality can last a year when used 10+ hours every day. I've been using many smartphones from Samsung, and I've never seen a single phone without burn-in issues. There always comes the ghost keyboard on the half bottom of the screen after 1 year of use.

// yep it avarage around 435 nits and maxes at 465nits (so not 600nits like this dude trying to give the impression of) it is 400nits HDRceritifed and it implement masssive pulse width modulation in the low hz spectrum. and not just in the low brightness like some laptops, but all acroos the board.
PWM can give headache and eyesore for certain people hence flickering.
Mindblowing that this dude are not validating the panel himself as he do got the tools to check the brightness and not just pick some false WOLED spec, not relevant to the end-product and take them as a trustworthy guideline.

I just bought this.... hope I don't regret it. I got it for under 1.2K I decided to go with this one instead of the stealth version because of upgrade ability. I just hate how this only has 1 usb C
also thank you for your honesty! I love these reviews
Gaming on 4K with low settings
So should I get the Razer Blade 15" 240Hz 2070 max-Q
or the Razer Blade 17" 144Hz RTX 2060?
Both come with 9th gen i7, 512gb ssd, and elite razercare protection plan, and both are comparable in price, so I'm not sure which is better/ (I do devwork as well as light-moderate gaming)
@Gary Nguyen ye. US. Just pick your base model, go to checkout, and click on the specs you want. Tech chap was showing screens of it too, so it should be available in UK at least as well.

@Sean I got the Blade 15 RTX 2060 and I have to say it's really good. Performances are excellent and the build-quality feels like high-end. Although there's sometimes BSOD tho, maybe it's the Window's fault.
@Sean Razer has build-your-own laptops? Which country are you currently ordering to?
I just built it on Razer's site and added it to cart. I had a lot saved up for a new laptop, so I'm giving this brand a shot
@Sean Wait where do you buy it?
What should I get for editing on the go, the razer blade stealth 13 or the razer blade 15??
LOOOOOVING the cinematic grade, production design and lighting. Very well done DP!
sorry this hasn't anything to do with this review directly Linus but could you, or anyone else, please tell me which of the ROG Zehpyrus GX502 are the top editions? I don't really understand which are 'best' and what the differences are. I keep being in doubt which laptop to buy since I'm way too new to this and way too perfectionistic😅. I'm going to use it for content creation but also for future designing and I want to be able to game on high(er) settings when I wish to. I know this is what most people want but there's the Zephy GX502, the Aero, Razer, Alienwares, Helios etc etc. I do love a whitish version though.. any thoughts? I just finally want to decide now and don't really think about it anymore🤷♂️😂
This was such an excellent review, it covered every customer type that might be interested in this product.
Just Incase you didn’t know.. EACH PIXEL IS OMMITING ITS’ OWN LIGHT!
buying a razer is not flexing buying a macbook is flexing
Instead of 1440p make a 1080p amoled display @240hz
Lol
Not possible
1440p 120Hz is quite possible
Thanks I won’t buy it now, maybe I’ll buy something else. Like a MacBook.

So beautiful. I just wish it had the actual processing power to play games in 4K.
